The maasai Tribe
The nomadic and pastoralist Maasai people are a Nilotic ethnic group that inhabits selected but significant areas of northern, central, and southern Kenya, as well as across the border in northern Tanzania. Because of their traditional origins in the areas surrounding the Masai Mara Game Reserve and Amboseli near the Tanzanian border, the Maasai are one of East Africa's better-known ethnic groups. The Maasai speak Maa, and their shared Nilotic ancestors connect them in many ways to Kenya's Kalenjin tribe, which is famed for producing some of the world's top long-distance runners.
